Some Gay Men Cruise Public Toilets

Looking Benin

" As part of the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of Independence of Benin, the Ministry of Culture, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, chose to set up from June to August a major event dedicated to visual arts involved in the main cities of Benin.

This major event, called A Look Benin 1.0, reflects the ambition of our Benin Ministry of place as a place of talent development at the national and internationally, where artists meet, professional but above all our people. It also reflects the determination of our Government to make culture an engine of economic and social development.

Designed in close collaboration with the Embassy of France and Culturesfrance operator delegate of the French Ministries of Foreign and European Affairs and Culture and Communication for international cultural exchanges, the Eye 1.0 Benin event demonstrates once again ties that bind our two countries.

The active involvement of private operators who work currently in the visual arts sector such as the Foundation Zinsou space Tchif or association Laboratorio, confirms both the creative potential of artists of our nation and the capacity of these operators to take actions conducive to enhancing our culture.

This first edition, which will place the center of Benin art exchanges, could become over the years an unmissable visual arts on the continent. I call upon the willingness of all to make this event a success and hope to generate national interest and curiosity of all of us.
